Dr. Jacqueline Burke grew up in the Poconos and knew she wanted to become a veterinarian at a very early age after having a succession of pet mice, rabbits, dogs, and horses. She attended Muhlenberg College, graduating in 1983 with majors in natural sciences, biology, and French. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with honors in 1987. Her interests in veterinary medicine include emergency medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and preventative care.
Dr. Burke lives in Perkiomenville with her partner Chip, Jack Russell terrier Terra, cat Rosie, and horses Joani and Dude. Her chief passion outside of veterinary medicine is wildlife photography and she has traveled extensively throughout the world in pursuit of the ideal photo. Her photos have been used in professionally published books and calendars and have been shown in galleries in Tuscon and Glasgow, Scotland. Additionally, she has won a number of prizes and photo contests. When not on location for photography she enjoys cooking vegan meals, hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
